sainsburys application form
My 17 year old son is desperate for a part time job. We picked up an application form from the store. Its quite a simple one except for the part where you have to choose a b c d as answer to twelve questions. I have never worked in shop so my customer service level may not be quite up to scratch, and him only being seventeen has no experience of customers. If anyone can help us answer these twelve questions i will type them out. This is an example of what i mean.
A DISABLED CUSTOMER REGULARLY COMES TO BUY PETROL FROM THE STORE'S PETROL STATION.
Do you:
A. Ask if he needs help and suggest that he phones before he leaves home so staff can be available to help him?
B. Go out and offer help to him if you see his car on the forecourt?
C. Tell your colleagues about him so they're ready to help if you're not there?
D. Help him to fill up the car if he asks you to?

Maybe they are just designed to find out what kind of person the applicant is i.e pro-active, reactive etc.
Maybe there is someone on here that works for Sainbury's and can give a better answer.

How about this one
A customers clothes have been damaged by oil in the petrol station. She is very angry and wants compensation do you:
A. Say that the pumps were checked recently and they were in good order
B. Investigate the situation and get back to the customer.
C. Offer to have the clothes dry-cleaned
D. Get the customer to go to customer services and report the problem.

Do you
A. call other stores to see if they have a copy they can send to your store?
B. Apologise and suggest some other shops in the area?
C. Suggest contacting the customer when it gets delivered?
D. Tell the customer that you will arrange for more copies to be ordered?
And another
You are in the car park and you see a customer drop a bottle on the ground which smaches.
Do you
A. Continue on your way into the store as you are late for your shift?
B. Stop and ask him if you can help?
C. Suggest that he reports the incident to Customer Services?
D. Tell him you'll inform Customer Services and bring him another bottle?

This is the worst way to apply for a job! It�s bad enough that you�re helping him with the answers, let alone the amalgamated musings of ABers. I spend a lot of time recruiting people. These questions are not designed to trip people up. They�re just to give the employer a feel for how the candidate thinks and to get the candidate (not their parent�.) engaged in the type of work they might be doing. They might also be used in the interview to get the candidate talking about making judgements when serving customers.

I have succesfully raised 5 children thanks and this one is in desperate need of some encouragement, and if its me giving him a little help then tough. There comes a time when you cant help, he wont have me at the interview will he?
