The north pole? :-) The Trossachs are beauitful, and my Nana's cousin (I tihnk) runs the Trossachs Trundler. I think most people who've ever been to Scotland will claim that the bit they saw was the most beautiful... in my opinion it's a stunning country and you can't go wrong wherever you go! :-)
Just my opinion, but I would advise against Deeside and Aberdeen.
I would strongly second the advice about Glasgow to Fort William. The West Highland Way is pretty good. Fife is okish, but you have the beaches like St Andrews which are amonst the best I have ever been on, and St Andrews itself is pretty nice (prob gonna be busy just now).
The Ayrshire coast, Rothesay, Largs etc are very nice.
One of the nicest and most unusual places I have been is Tiree, on the Hebrides, unspoilt, empty, white sandy beaches, clear water, and the best sunshine record in the UK..definitely the UK's best getaway.
