Age of BSA Bantam

I'm trying to find the age and possible worth of a BSA Bantam, 175? The only thing I have to go on is the reg plate and am also wondering if this is worth anything by itself, considering the age. The reg plate is 6 HPP. Would you please advise me, either with details or where to go for them. Thanks

You can see from here the number plate should be worth several hundred pounds.

The log book will tell you the age of the motorbike.

the plate may be worth a couple of hundred pounds.

is it s a b175 or d175? or just 175cc?

"BSA had used a lettering system for their range of motorcycles and started the "D" series for their first two-stroke. The D175 was marketed as the B175 as BSA struggled against imports in the late 60s to its closure in 1972 (the larger capacity "B" series having helped make them the largest motorcycle manufacturer in the world)"

Thanks for that. It/s a start. I;m not sure if the log book still exists. The reg plate is still on the bike but at the moment that's all that can be seen as it's buried in a shed and we.ve no idea what condition it's in. Hence, I can't look for any other numbers.

Was it? The D5, D7, D10, D14 and D175 were all 175s. No bantam was a B.

If the plate has been "designated" as a "classic" plate that only goes with the bike, you won't be able to sell it on.
