USB problem
10 Answers
Hi! I am totally new to camcorders.Although I am really having fun in using it.Taking snapshots with it and video recording.I'm getting really used to it now.
But,.....and I really mean but,I just cannot seem to get it working with my PC.I have taken care to follow the instructions in the enclosed leaflet, and it says to turn on the camcorder (easily done).Connect the camcorder to your computer by the USB cable.(Easily done)
Now here is the interesting bit.Once I connect the USB cable to the PC the camcorder just keeps switching off.
So,I disconnect the cable again.I switch on the camcorder, and get no response from it.I thought the batteries had gone dead. So,I put brand new batteries in it,did the same thing, and as soon as I connected the USB cable again, the camcorder just switched off again.
Aarrgh!! What is going on here?
The USB connection on the PC is fine, and I'm wondering if it's something to do with the mini Camcorder.I have a memory disk in it,and I am trying to download videos and snapshots onto my PC.I just cannot do it.
Please help an amateur here.Any help appreciated...
Thanks.

Got to get used to the damn thing!! Excuse my french there.
I wonder if anyone has the same camcorder as I have.
It is very lightweight, and is very easy to carry around.
When I start the recording it's not too bad at all.The screen does wobble a bit, even though it has a stabiliser function.
Maybe I should keep the camera a bit steadier.

The default connection mode is "Disk". I wouldn't be surprised if in this mode the camera appears to turn off. That's because all further operations are carried out on the PC and not on the camera. Open My Computer and you should see a Removable Disk in the list of devices. This is explained on page 4 of the manual.
FAO rojash...or anyone!
Hmm, I still seem to have a problem with my mini camcorder.
Although I have installed the Digital DV Camcorder Driver v100 disc that came with it,but that doesn't seem to help much.I have racked my brains trying to get the camera to stay on when I link it up to the PC.
Page 4 of what manual by the way?? The PC manual??
Can't seem to find that yet.It could be somewhere, but not sure where.Oh well,I will just have to find someone local who can help me with this problem I'm having.
I'm definitely a novice when it comes to technical problems as you know.
I will have a look at this thread another day.

No, the camera manual, of course!
You did install the drivers before connecting the camera (as it also says in the manual)?
If not, you should:
Uninstall them completely.
Right-click My Computer and choose properties
Click "Device Manager" on the Hardware tab
Locate any devices that have question marks by them, right-click them and choose uninstall
Close all windows
Restart the computer
Install the drivers from the disk
Finally connect the camera.

Many thanks again rojash for your advice.
I feel a bit of a dope when I said 'on which manual'!
Sorry about that!
Anyway,I am off on holiday to Weston Super Mare for a few days from this Friday, and I will be busy tomorrow getting ready for it.So I won't be able to fix the camera problem until I come back.
Thanks again mate.
