The remote control on my 42LG5000 HD TV has a button marked STB. Anybody know what this is for? Thanks in advance

Set Top Box ?

I search in Google for "LG 42LG5000 STB" and a few hits mention Set Top Box

Seems LG make their own Set Top Boxes so my guess is the button works with them.

If your tv has built in freeview tuner then this will switch to that rather than normal analogue tuner built in.
