Professional Zoom whitening or similar methods are effective, but more noticeable and impressive on teeth that started out quite yellow or stained.
I had mine done 3 years ago, it was ok, but my teeth were never very yellow to start with. Also, it was the most painful thing ever, after whitening, my teeth were hypersensitive for 48 hours, I needed to take painkillers, plus I had some burning to my lips and gums.

I use colegate advanced whitening and really like it - also use the colegate professional clean once a week too. If your teeth are particularly bad then maybe initially speak with your dentist. I have two veneers but this was due to mishappen teeth - I would be reluctant to use this method for just discouloured teeth. As much as I am really happy with the look - it is a long term committment, twice I have lost/broken one of my veneers and what is underneath now is not so pleasant.
