distorted picture great sound on dvd player

i have been puttingxvids onto data disks for playback on my dvd player. They have been playing fine, but certain ones have fine audio when playing back, but the picture looks like claw mark goin diagonally across the screen.

Can anyone help??

maybe the format of some are different?
do they paly ok onyour pc?

if so then youre humped.

on pc you can install different codecs but not on your dvd player

they all play fine on the pc, thats whats confusing me!!! The movie properites all say Xvid, but some will play on the dvd player and some wont! ...........Very strange
