There is a modern American poet called Sita Cabrera.
But I wouldn't want to bet that Sita is the right answer here.

'Heartless Italian' does not equal ALI! That can only signify IN (in this case, as it's four letters in total). Unless the compiler's made a booboo � and assuming, of course, that this is a down clue. I do wish people would say whether across or down - it often has a huge bearing on the cryptic reading.
