Planet X

A friend of mine insists an object called planet X has been discovered that will pass close to the earth in 2012 and was predicted by the Mayans -not that that is a guarantee of accuracy. Called Nibiru. Some say will cause disruption to the earth. My answer was its as likely as Schiaparellis canals on mars.
There may be dangerous objects in space, but I am not convinced by the planet X scenario. Any comments for or against this?
