Is positive discrimination unfair to women? Every time I meet a woman in authority I automatically think she is there because of her gender and not because she is worthy.

Are you sure that isn't just your own prejudice?

Id like to think not. I always went to coed schools and I always thought that most of the brainier kids were girls. I left school in the 60s and there was discrimination against girls which I thought very unfair. I like to think the boys of my generation, as well as the girls, strove to put this right. Girls don't need positive discrimination just an equal playing field.
I agree wholeheartedly with your last sentence there sandmaster!
I would hate to think I was getting treated differently/better just because I am female.I would much prefer to be judged on my merits, not my gender.
My ex-husband was sexist...........everytime he saw a young woman driving a really nice sports car he'd say "She must be good on her back".............................made me think twice about my 2CV6...................
