I heard reference in a TV series to the plague in the USA. I know that the UK had Black Death but when was America hit by plague?

I think the last outbreak of bubonic plague in the UK was in 1910 in East Anglia. It's endemic around the world.

Thanks Magic Merlin, but .... I have Googled it without success of finding the information I was looking for. Yes the plague is still prevelant in many countries worldwide, including the USA and yes the treatment is relatively simple, (something I have learnt from my search) but the programme seemed to indicate that there was an outbreak of significance in the States and when I can't find it by Google I have found Answerbank to be a helpfull source of information. In this case I believe the programme itself may have overstated the situation.
