Years ago when I worked in a customer-facing environment we were told we had to tell people our name when answering the telephone. I objected to telling people my christian name as I thought it unprofessional....yes I know it's now the norm. For about 3 weeks I got away with answering the phone "Good morning, Daisy May".... then my boss found out....oops..........what name would you pick in the same situation.....

Craft, when my kids were small I worked evenings at a supermarket. We were supposed to wear a name badge with our christian name on but I refused to wear mine because I didn't (still wouldn't) like complete strangers coming up to me and addressing me by my first name. I wanted mine to say my title and surname so that I could be addressed properly.

exactly madmaggot.....do I really want to know when I speak to a call centre that I'm talking to Chantelle or Chardonnay.....er no.....
I hate it when customers start using your first name just because it's on your badge as for a fake name would have to steal Phoebe's 'Regina Phalangee'
