Since Thursday's Spectator didn't take too long I decided to have a go at this EV before tomorrow's shows up. Aside from getting hung up because I was thinking film director rather than actor (wish I'd seen N's hint!), I have 2 questions. On 25d there seems to be only one word that fits given my crossing letters, but I can't see why. Does it refer to a travel magazine that I might not have heard of? Also, although I see how to enter the 4,4 clues, I can't see which of the million or so films the "theme" has appeared in is being referenced.
Hello dr b
25d is one of the 9 down clues with an extra letter, the magazine is also a French word meaning she.
The fact that a Bostonian had trouble in China Town makes me feel less foolish about the incident. Came back from Scottsdale a couple of years ago via St Louis.
Hi dr b!

The film being referenced is based on a Jules Verne novel but not "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea". The characters in it are still going downwards.

Novalis - get your connection for the monarch referred to in 'green.....etc' but can see no logical connection. By the way, a superb article in this month's National Geographic about one of her formidable fore-bears, have visited her temple twice and it is the hottest place I have ever been!! Dug out a second copy of Speccie 1913 and have finished it apart from 22d which I cannot get to fit in - there is an E where I want an I.
Ginger Mog still very sluggish, but is in full purrn and enjoying having his back scratched.
Physicsgirl, pity we didn't know you were so near during our sojourn to Harrogate in March, you copuld have drooled over the exquisite evening bag with me!
We are playing Mah Jong with some friends tomorrow night and I am making (by request) one of my special Bread & butter puddings - shall I make a second one for the DC?
N: Aha. If I'd known that "Jane's" last name also meant a journey I may have picked up on that sooner.

By the way, Big Dave will apparently not be able to email me tomorrow's EV till at least Monday; does anyone get a pdf version they'd be willing to email me? If not, no loss - there is plenty of gardening waiting tomorrow.

Drb have posted your dilemma on a new thread EV 863 someone there can help you if they have your email.
I read in today's Telegraph that they did not receive any correct entries by the closing date.

Maybe mine got lost by Royal Mail?
Mine too, unless we'd all made an error somewhere, perhaps I should keep a copy before I send it off!
