nose piercing

I have recently had my nose pierced and work in a High School Pastoral Office where they do not seem over happy that I have had this done. Do you think it is acceptable for an adult in a school working environment to have a facial piercing?

Because of my job I accept that certain things just aren't appropriate at work, visible piercings other than normal earrings, normal hair colouring, no visible tattoos etc...
In a school context, I'd say that if the kids aren't allowed them then the staff shouldn't wear them either as a good example.

I work in an FE college and know plenty of staff who have nose/ lip and just above lip piercings.
I can't see why it should only be Asian people who are allowed. If you have Asian people with nose piercings in your work and they don't get tackled about it I would challenge the school's Equal Ops policy.

Thank you Happy Face. I have not been challenged yet thank goodness. When I got my piercing they told me I could change the stud in 3-5 days so i thought it would not be a problem, but since then I have heard you should leave it for 6 weeks before changing to a smaller stud and to be honest it does not feel ready yet anyway. ( had it done two weeks ago on wed). So I hope all will be ok but if challenged would defo take your advice. Thanx.
Happyface's advice will only apply if you actually work with an Asian lady who has been allowed to have a piercing - It's a school for God's sake didn't it occur to you there would be a problem.. Parents are going to love you when their kids come home saying they want one just like yours.. Before you start getting up yourself over it - remember there is a recession on and people would be lining up (unpierced) to apply for your job..And remember it's not just schools there are probably hundreds of professions where you wouldn't get past the first interview with a piercing..
