Can you drive a scooter when banned for drink driving?

Hi,

Any advice appreciated. I am due to get charged with drink driving and wondering if this will apply to driving a 50cc scooter. Does your provisional licence get taken off you?

I'm not judging by the way but I should imagine you wouldn't be able to operate any motorcycle on the road or there will be open temptation to offend again. I'm sure a bicycle can still be used though.

A driving ban covers the driving of all motor vehicles for which a licence is required. It's possible for someone to hold a driving licence which is valid in the UK (e.g. a French licence acquired after passing a driving test in Paris) but still to be banned from driving in the UK.

i.e. it doesn't matter whether you've got a full licence, a provisional licence, a foreign licence or no licence at all. If you're banned, you're banned. End of story.

You will be warned by the magistrate that you cannot drive any motor vehicle on any road or other public place [which covers many privately-owned places such as supermarket car parks] for the duration of your ban.

All the above is true. However, you could still ride an electric bicycle which you don't need a license for.
Seems daft to me. If you're not fit to ride a moped an electric bike isn't that much different.
