the village is rubbish! its bad enough as it was but the twist at the end made it even worse!!

Agree that it was rubbish, how could he create a duffer like this when he can make such an excellant films like Unbreakable ?.
Monumental cop-out.
stunning twist. i loved it to be fair!
The so-called "twist" at the end was mindbogglingly obvious from about two minutes after the start of the film.
Hmmmm, I liked it, but I didn't. Parts were good, others werent. I found the "twist" a bit ridiculous - please, please don't tell me that the Villagers never heard anything, or saw planes fly over, or that the roadside they lived next to (On the other side of the road) never drew any attention, nor did the fact that there was an open forest, and vast amounts of wilderness ever case anybody from "the ouside world" over the fence/across the wood, to jump over and explore. Another thing is, this is America, they put microchips in cereal boxes to listen and track people, lol, so please don't tell me that a bunch of people who dress up as carnivarous dog-like creatures once every few months, and live in the middle of a big field secluded from everything, and raise their children in some strange 1800-century life style are going to survive without anyone finding out. Somebody must own the land their on, which means as SOME POINT, somebody would have found them... it was a good idea that didn't really seem to work. Unbreakable was good, but I work out what it was about, and then it takes me so long... I forget again - so if someone would like to post a few bullets of what its about, please do! And am I right in saying that the Villagers actually lived in the 21st Century, they just emmigrated into a far out field and pretended they were in olden days again? Actually, thinkin about the plot that way... its awful!
Yeah rubbish. I think this is cause I didnt realise that we weren't meant to know it was set in our time. I just assumed it was and they had chosen to live like that.  Did that make sense? :)

That does make sense mycatis, you're all a lot more perceptive than me, I was gripped by the plot and loved the scenery, characters and everything, I believed they were living in the era portrayed and couldn't wait to find out what the 'scary monsters' really were and to get to the climax of the film....... and when I did I wanted to throw my tv out of the window! I feel cheated.

i thought it was good, i just feel more cheated that joaquin phoenix was dubbed the main role and yet he spent half of it on a deathbed! felt cheated his name was used to sell the film and not so much the main character of it.

the villagers owned the land and made sure no planes were permitted to fly over it (as mentioned in the film!) the woods they lived in were private property, owned by them, so if anyone did enter them they would have been in legal problems.

i think the director did the best he could with a pretty stupid twist in an otherwise good film.
