What is desk top publishing?

 For the past 12 months I have been making greetings  cards and invitations for our own use. I would like to branch out a bit, and want to know how to get the best out of my laptop for printing onto cards etc. It is all trial and error at the moment!! Would I need to a desk top publishing course or is there something better around!

I use MS Publisher and a good printer!

Publisher is pretty self explanatory and the Help is very good but there are plenty of good books out there to help further such as 'Dummies' guides.
