I bought 2 lots of boxed mussles, bought them home stuck them in the freezer, thought i would have them today, so got them out of the freezer read on the box and it says not suitable for home freezing, i have bought frozen ones in the past and didn`t think about not being able to freeze them, do you think if we ate them we will be ok, im going to defrost them first, any advice please before i make myself and hubby very ill. Thanks
Only cooked mussels are frozen. When we buy fresh mussels they're still alive so you've frozen them alive which means you're about to cook a dead mussel. I wouldn't take the risk of eating them personally, shell fish are dodgy in any circumstance...
Probably because shell fish has such a short shelf life that by the time you put them in the freezer they're at the end of that shelf life. Meats that are at the end of their shelf life shouldn't be frozen either. Just make sure you heat them well through and they should be alright.
Bon appetit!!
By the way, if anything happens to you, it was nice conversing with you...LOL
