Is his wife still alive? And how much information do you have about him. I got pretty stuck until one day after about 18 months my Nan suddenly remembered his staff number. If you have that you are onto a winner.

Last year I got my Grandfather's records so I could apply for a medal which he was entitled to.
This should help, zzxxee x

No charge to widows or widowers

thanks yogi and everyone for the help x
excuse interruption please but I am curious about my late grandfather and father who served in each of the WW's respectively. unfortunately I have no service number for either of them but my grandfather was mentioned in dispatches (twice) I presume I'd have to pay for the info, but how would I go about proving kinship?

again, apologies for interrupting your thread zz
Hi albaqwerty x

This should put you in the right direction........you didnt say which service they were in, but this covers all.
