Disposing of a dictionary
5 Answers
I've just bought a new edition of the Collins English Dictionary that I've been using for over 20 years and it seems a shame to just throw away the old one, so I'm after suggestions as to places that might want it.
It's in ok condition, all 1771 pages are there intact, no tears, there's a bit of staining of the page edges through use and a few years of cigarette smoke, and the front cover (it's hardback) has come away but it could easily be sellotaped back together.
General suggestions of any groups or organisations are welcome but also if anyone knows of anywhere specific in the area of Poole, Dorset then I would be even more grateful.

I have a huge book on my desk - Sybase SQL Server Unleashed - of no value to us because the organisation no longer has any Sybase. I'll probably end up tearing it up bit by bit into the recycling bin.
