I'd love to know who the members are of this mystical "Star Chamber" which is meant to be investigating the MPs' expenses scandal? How "independent" are they?
No cover up here is the report you can read it for yourself:

53. To conclude my consideration of the position in respect of [property1] and 60 Daisy Hill, I am satisfied that Mr Malik has not breached the requirements of Sections 7.1 and 7.7 of the Code in relation to either of these two properties ...
It is not therefore been shown that Mr Malik has breeched the Ministerial Code in respect of [property2] the house he currently occupies in Dewsbury.
Brown obviously does not learn from his mistakes. Before the ink was dry some cohort cleared Malik of any offence. Its a slap in the eye for those wishing to clean up the system. From what I gather Malik was only cleared of paying by cash which is a Muslim tradition. Now what rule says they get expenses for a 3rd property?
jake - the scope of the enquiry did not encompass this new allegation that for 2005-2008 Malik was claiming rent for a second constituency office within his constituency residence. The Green Book clearly states that MPs are not allowed to claim for 'leasing or mortgage costs' on offices based at their home.
5.12.9. Homes used as offices
You may use as an office for your Parliamentary duties any part of your home, or of any other building which you lease or own. You may claim for any additional costs incurred (eg: extra telephone lines, heat, light) but not leasing or mortgage costs.
'Is it 'cause I'm black' card again; religious excuse. Another case of one rule for them/us! His legal advisers know how to bend rules & laws to get him off the hook.
