broadband connection speed

Just bought a new computer have installed Windows XP home addition, I am using a blueyonder broadband connection using a 10/100 ethernet but the download speed is excepionally slow.  Have I missed something in the setup or are they any tweaks I could use?  Thanks a lot Cyrilbiker

what broadband speed is it?

what speeds are you getting, when for example you download a file? (and where is the file coming from?)
Broadband won't be as quick as your 10/100 card if that is what you are thinking. Have a look here to see the true speed :
