The phone he got from the phone shop was a black nokia, with a slide up and down screen, one of the latest but not one of the very expensive range. I am sorry I cant remember the number.
The man in the shop also told him that he could download a very loud ringtone on to it for him as they had some. Apprently there is some software with very loud ringtones so maybe if u asked at yr shop they could help.
hope this helps.

I have a Nokia N95, my housemates are always mentioning how loudly my phone rings - they tell me they can hear it ringing from the other end of the house. Which is great for me - i'm always leaving it in random places.
It also helps that I'm using an MP3 of MGMT "Kids" - these days most music is mastered unneccessarily loud, and dave fridmann is one of the worst culprits.
It'd also be easy to make your own loud ringtone - download a free audio editor (i recommend http://audacity.sourceforge.net/) and find your desired ringtone or song, cut it down to a sensible length (30 seconds is long enough), boost the volume, save as an MP3 and upload to your phone.
