nokia n96 sim card

I have a monthly contract with vodafone - went to their shop this afternoon to get a replacement for my damaged sim card. When I put new sim in my phone, its just saying that the sim registration has failed. Phoned vodafone, they said the sim was activated, and could take up to 24 hours to work. Does any one know if this is correct?? Seems a long time, and I have had other replacement sims which worked straight away. Thanks in advance.

yes this does happen although it does usually become active immediatly

If its not active after 24 hours its a trip back to the shop to complain for you!!!
