i am due to move out of this flat in July and i need to keep everything clean etc before handing it back to my agent. as i dont iron i just shuffed the iron under the cupboard when i moved in to the flat last July.
Today as i was doing some full cleaning i took it out..... to my horror.... this is what it looks like
Help, does anyone know how to clean this iron? i dont want to loose my deposit, and i am not sure if it was like that when i first moved in to the place... =(
There is a product available called 'Iron Cleaner' strangely enough. I got mine from John Lewis some time ago. I imagine you could get it from good hardware shops etc. It works well.
The only things to get ironed in my house are his 5 business shirts. Body heat sorts everything else out. Whereas my Ma in law irons knickers and has even been known to iron tights.
thanks zzxxee, i will try your advice tomorrow, im soo tired, i think i spent 3 hours cleaning, hoovering, mopping etc. still not cleaned the mirrors, windows or bathroom yet!! if that method doesnt work i will try scotman's advice
annie, im a lazy girl and dont iron =) my trick is buy clothes that dosnt crease easily =P
good thinking whitebears - tbh I don't iron much either - my hubby does it all! he does stop short of ironing tights and our underwear, but he does iron the boys boxers - I am pretty sure that we couldn't kit out the whole family in clothes that don't crease- not until they invent polyester Judo suits anyway.
She would actually be delighted if I did just that. But belongs to the old flat iron school of ironing and polishes with a very hot iron thus rendering his collars all shiny and him all cross.
problem solved! yippee ive managed to get 97% of the muck out! i bought this Astonish oven & cookware cleaner @ 89p and rubbed some of the stuff on the iron although i had to do a lot of scrubbing etc... but it did the trick!
I hate ironing so I bought an ironing press. I think it's great. It was very expensive when I bought it a few years ago, but they've come down in price now.
