Is it true, that the majority of dinosaur bones found on display in the World's museums are actually fakes?

yes , there was a programme on the television about a year ago and they said the ones on display were made of plaster of paris or something like that

Even if the majority are fakes, those that are genuine prove that at least some dinosaurs really existed.

Real dinosaur bones are very fragile and need special storage conditions to slowdown their degeneration. Often they are found in pieces and so a plaster cast is made of the pieces and a whole 'fake' bone is made. This also enables the authorities to duplicate each bone and have it displayed in different museums all over the world so many people can wonder in awe at these interesting beasts.
