Problem with diesel Nissan X Trail 2.2 SE+

Losing power at 1500 - 2000 revs and black smoke. Local garage have already changed fuel filter and are now saying it may be the fuel pump and to take it to nissan as they can't find the fault. Worried this is going to end up costing a fortune.

Lot of trouble with the turbos on X trails. Go to Xtrail group on Yahoo they may help you.

Thanks for your reply. I have seen lots of posts on problems with turbos. That was my other dread, that it might be a problem with that and not the fuel pump. Either way, it all sounds VERY expensive :(
