ok so i am going to be a father in the next few months. what benefits can I claim i.e. tax credits etc? I have a wife but she is not working and because of her visa she is unable to gain access to any government benefits so I have to claim anything we can. I am working full time. any advice would be great

you should be able to claim child tax credits and working tax credits depending on how much you earn.

didnt you say that you earnt well in excess of �50k?

i cant see what you can claim for, you may be able to claim the child benefit (�18 a week i think) yourself.

ya i do at the moment like. but with 40% of my wages going over 30k its better for 2 people to have rubbish salaries. hmmm i will look into it like
why give up work yourself? you wont get anywhere near as much money on benefits.

even if at �40k, you may get �50 a month for first year in child tax credit.

you could however get childcare vouchers tax free if your employer offers the scheme.
you might be entitled to tax credits depending on what your earning. I think you can earn up to �30'000 per year
