I have a Default Notice from a mail order catalogue for arrears, for services I didn't order. I haven't signed any of their Credit Agreements and they are claiming it was a verbal agreement, which they can shove because I didn't agree at all.

Any ideas about what happens next or what I can do about it?

I suggest that you write to them politely explaining the situation, and asking for copies of any documents that they have and that they think prove thier claim agianst you. Keep a copy of your letter.
It may be a mistake on their part, or maybe someone has ordered something in yor name. Either way it is best to get to the bottom of things qiuickly

Its not quite that. The services in dispute are extended warranties for other people's things.

The catalogue wouldn't let me cancel them, some of which I hadn't even ordered,  and kept renewing them automatically. That's why I stopped paying. They then increased the amount dramatically by adding "administration charges"

This happens to my sister all the tine. She ignores them and nothing ever happens.

It seems you were quite right about that Scarlett. They have threatened legal action time and time again with no sign of any actual court action or lawyers involved. They have now offered me a 25% reduction in the debt, long after saying they were going to take me to court. In a small way I'm starting to enjoy their situation. They are virtually begging me for money I don't owe.
