Wallflowers

We have had some lovely wallflowers in the borders this year for the first time, but what should we do with them now as they're going tall and straggly? Do they need digging out, or can we trim them and leave them in the ground to flower next year?

Well I don't know if this is the right way, but I leave mine to die back, and feed the root, they always come back next year, so it seems to work!.................welsh

Don`t expect them to be as nice next year and being biennial it`s best to pull them up and plant fresh in the autumn.

i have grown these for some time and learned by experience.
these plants tend to flower theselves to death and so sometimes called perenials.
what i do is when flowering is nearly finished the plants will have loads of seed cases on them.
this is the time to trim hard a ndfeed with miracle grow, the best feed of all.
come autumn they will again flower and my variety, actually erysimum, will bloom all winter.
