ohhh and whillst i'm here i have another question! you can tell i don't really have a technical side: ( my scanner isn't working but it's plugged in correctly and the green lights there indicating it's on. Does anybody know what could be wrong with it? The panel is loading and it starts to scan the picture then just says photo impression failed.Thanks!

Try setting your scanner to scan to your hard drive rather than to Photo Impression which is really more use for photo editing.
I had a similar problem and this worked for me

It could be that you're trying to scan at too high a resolution which can be altered manually.  Usually you have 3 or 4 options. colour, text B & W etc.  Leave the scanner at its default settings or try scanning at a different res.
