Just seen the film on channel 3 for the first time tonight, and was wondering if anyone had any useful insights into the end of the film etc... Just seemed a bit out of sync with the big build up. Cheers!

Hi Sunflower -

I loved it too! I wondered if the ending was just meant to show how overwhelming it all was, and if she was actually married or he'd interrupted it in time...

And was the reason Mrs. Robinson was so desperate for Elaine not to go out with Dustin (can't remember his character's name) that she was worried that this was what would happen...?
Yes I think you're right there.  They both appear to breathe a sigh of relief on the back of the bus.  I guess Mrs Robinson knew what he was capable of, ie he had an affair with a married woman therefore she didn't really want her daughter involved with somebody like that.  Perhaps he was crap in bed and she didn't want her daughter to suffer in the way she had!

Oh, and yes I think it is meant to show that he did interrupt the wedding in time.  I think they were in the middle of their vows when he banged on the glass.

Update, Tuesday 7th June.

lexie, just to let you know that, sadly, 'Mrs.Robinson' actress Ann Bancroft died aged 73.
