Cleaning chrome and aluminium

Anyone got any DIY recommendations for cleaning the chrome and the aluminium on my Land Cruiser. I have tried Autosol Cream which does a pretty good job but is very hard work.
Is there an acid based product that will bring back the shine and not discolour

Try either E-Kleen 163 (neutral phoshated) or E-Kleen 155(non- phosphated acid). Small hidden sections first please!!
