Shorty is hip-hop slang for a girl.

Shorty 1st started cropping up about 10/11 years ago when Wu-Tang amongst others started saying it.

In numerous hip-hop videos, Wu Tang, Snoop, Dre, Dru Hill, etc , the girl was a shorty.

To quote from the choon "Method Man" - "I got myself a forty (alcohol), I got myself a shorty (girl) and I'm about to go and stick it....."

It's not dogchild, it's darkchild. Darkchild produces the material and often receives a mention on the records.
