How can i put my videos on my ipod for free?

Hi all,

I'd like to be able to watch the movies i already have on my laptop on my ipod. I have looked around and everywhere wants me to pay $29.99 etc for the software to do this. I dont mind paying for stuff but... i've paid for the movies and i've paid for the ipod and i've paid for my laptop etc etc
Does anyone kow of a program that is free? no watermarks or trial periods etc?
