What the next 1 or 2 Weeks News is going to be about because MJ has died?

I suppose soldiers being killed in Afganistan and Iraq wont be important and not get a mention, how sad will that be?

They don't have a choice pink, they are in the army serving people like you and me.
well here in irelnd our army is neutral we dont go to war but can act as peace keeping. They do have a choice they are UK citizens who have voted in the government who have chosen to send troops to war
trt glad you said that, I put a similar question on cb, didnt get a lot of response;-(
F - ing great, saturation coverage of some tacky funeral cortege, whilst everything else gets summarised into a "5 minute round-up of other news".

I think now is a good time to chuck the telly out of the window....
Sorry, pink, can't let you get away with that remark, i.e.

"..they are UK citizens who have voted in the government..."

Most of the poor sods who have been blown to bits would have been either still too young to vote in 2005 or barely so.

So, don't sit over there in the land of my forefathers talking twaddle, ye bl00dy eejit dat y'arr !!
omg when its the day of the funeral dont put sky news on it will saturate it for 36 hours you wait and see.
young kids of the world rest easy this morning your a bit safer !!
trt - this is a HUGE news story. Soldiers are dying in Afghanistan and Iraq, true - but like it or not this is a much bigger story. Not necessarily a more important story, certainly a more newsworthy one.

What do you think would make people buy a newspaper today? The death of a young soldier they've never heard of, or the death of a global superstar whom half the planet knows of?
sp is absolutely right.

Like it or not, Jackson - even though his heyday was the early 80s - was a massive star, the only other one who even comes close, but is still lagging somewhat behind, is Madonna.

The Thriller album is still the best selling of all time - although for my money Off The Wall is better.

Their will be saturation for at least the weekend, and then further saturation for the funeral, bet then that will be it.

Afghanistan, unfortunately, will still be rumbling on long before Jackson has rotted away.

Still, look on the bright side - the music channels this weekend will be full of Jackson stuff.

You'd have to be pretty musically boring not to even grudgingly admit that Jackson produced some excellent stuff.
trt - you posted a thread immediately below this that went something like 'Please stop posting MJ stories'. And then went on to start another one...whats all that about?
They don't have a choice pink, they are in the army serving people like you and me.

They are not serving me - I didn't ask them to go there

They did have a choice we ended conscription years ago.

"Be the best at school - then you won't have to join the army!"
pinktwink , Happen to be 100% on your side. Soldiers are fighting a needless war in Afghanistan & Iraq. Some wars you can understand especially the 2 world wars. Yet, we were blind to follow the US into the Middle East- such senseless waste of lives as there will always be tyrants in these countries & fighting them will never put an end to terrorism within the west at Islamic fundamentalists hands either. Michael Jackson a global superstar who dying at the premature age of 50 is very newsworthy. Besides everyone here can choose which news channel to watch as well as which paper to read or not as the case may be. flip_flop like the points you made, too.
Yes, trt, let's ignore the death of a massive cultural figure.

Then we get back to talking about house prices and recessions and the war and MPs' expenses.

Thanks.

Ha ha ha ha...I thought exactly the same thing, but you beat me to it.
flip_flop

The thing about Madonna is that she's never going to die. She signed a pack with the devil years ago.

These are verifiable facts.
There may be many who don't like the saturation coverage that will undoubtedly occur over the next few days/weeks, but Michael Jackson was a global superstar and had a massive influence on the music business for many years. His musical legacy is a great one. It's just a shame his personal life was so off the wall.

And lets not forget the lovely Farrah Fawcett from Charlies Angels who died the same day.
