I have been told that there are books held in the Vatican that have never been seen by the general public.  Has anyone else heard this?  If so, what are they?

thanks

Justineo, your question is probably unanswerable... if on the one hand the supposition is true, how would anyone ever know what the books are?  If on the other hand it's not a true statement, how does one refute it, other than through a denial that sceptics wont believe anyway? But at east reflect on the fact that secrets of this type are really impossible to keep.  If more than one person knows, and in this case many, many people would have to know, then the conspiracy falls apart, just through human nature...
It is true that there is a library in the Vatican and that it is not open to the public, whether or not there are some good juicy books about all the mysteries of the world, well see Clanad's post.

jusineo,

I cannot (personally) answer your question, but these sites may:~

Good Luck & don't get TOO neurotic about it!

yeah I have just completed the link - I suppose the Index has to be there and of course example of forbidden books on the Index just so's the Cardinals know how evil the books all are.....

My boss came up to us and said, do you realise that there has been a cover-up about X ? And we all hooted with laughter while one of us pointed out that if there was a cover-up then.....of course we wouldnt know.

This site is bit like that

The website of the Vatican has a section called..... The Secret Archives.  and here you can view a collection index and general description of the archives.  I imagine that most of the books although very very very old indeed, are quite possibly incredibly dull.

One of the books found there is "The Da Vinci Code" by Dan Brown, but it was stolen by some spotty little erk that thought he would get to see the mona lisa naked in it and when it wasnt about her nude he dumped it in a bin and was found by a sales rep from Waterstones!

twiglet,

It sounds like a plot for a whole new novel! LOL

I was told by my priest ex-husband that the C of E and Vatican acquire and stash such things as old Grimoires, Book of the Dead, anything "satany" or heretical, to keep them out of the public domain.
