Employed or self empolyed

what are the advantages and disadvantages of being Employed and self empolyed?

Employed-regular pay,regular holidays, sickness benefit
Self employed- no work-no pay-no holidays-no benefit, can work hours to suit, know that the hours you work are for you and if worked out seriously can be of a great benefit mentally and financially.

Self employed = please yourself!

self employed means the ability to earn more than a standard wage by working harder.

If you are employed you are limited to 'standard' salary ranges and bonuses - if you are self employed you can earn whatever you can make.

I have charged 1,000 a day for my skills to bigger companies who can pay. I just cant do that every day.

I became self-employed after my employer went bust. I figured that at least that way, if I had employment and/or financial problems in the future, they would be because of my own shortcomings rather than due to the failures of someone else.

When I was 16 I went to work in a good restaurant (washing dishes). One day I asked the chef how you get to be a chef? He said "Look around here � there is butcher, a baker, a fry cook, a salad maker, a dessert maker � lots of people � when you can do what they do, then they call you a chef." I liked the answer because it meant that he could fill in for anyone, he could tell if they were doing a good job and he got to run the place as he wished (even though he was not the owner).

If you work for yourself, try to have all the varied skills you can master. If you can get good at doing a web site, at using a camera and at doing any special things that help your undertaking, then it is cheaper, faster and you tend to get what you want and need. In any case, you normally have to ask for help for some things. If you work for yourself, it is good to have an open mind and be willing to learn.

Working for someone else can be tough, but if you are on your own, you tend to put in a lot more time.
