Tenerife

We are off on a 3 week jaunt to Tenerife next week, been before but didn't visit too many places as the kids were too young, we are going to be south of the island, anyone any good ideas for family fun and perhaps a nice meal out when my parents are going to babysit?

we really enjoyed a trip to the volcano mount tiede, there was lots for the children to do and see, a restaurant and aplay area. it was about 8 or 9 yrs ago, we were actually staying in lanzarote and got the ferry over, perhaps you might fancy the reverse journey for another day out. have a great holiday

Do try to find a genuine Canarian restaurant for a special meal.......it won't be easy amongst the miriad of eating places but it will be worth the experience.  Enjoy!!

Spent two weeks in Tenerife earlier this year (Puerto de la Cruz in the north of the island) and found the food in general pretty grim. Things brightened up in the second week when we had the idea of going to good 4-star hotels and ordering an evening buffet. The price for non-guests ranged from � 9 to � 16 - well worth the money. The ambience was not always as romantic as it could have been, but the quality of the food ranged from good to very good indeed.

Personally I hated the Mount Teide trip, but that's just me! Loro Parque in the north is expensive but fun, especially for the kids. There's a great waterpark in the south. The north is close enough to drive to for a day; it's cooler and there are some nice bits up there.

If you get a chance, go to Masca - it's only small, but it's the village that was lost for a long time as the rest of the island thought it had been destroyed by the volcano. I really found that interesting.

There are a couple of nice restaurants in Los Christianos, although on the whole I agree with xollob - unless you are after British 'cuisine', you'll have to look hard.
