does anyone know if there are regulations around the hours domestic building work can be done? I was woken up this morning at 7.45 by next doors builder knocking down a wall underneath my bedroom window.
The mistake the builder made was not to warn you in advance..
However, 7.45 am is not unreasonable but the local environmental officer can give you guidance . No harm in giving them a call , then you will know what is acceptable
The generally accepted hours (by local authorities) are 0800 to 1800 Mon-Friday and until 1300 on Saturday for work by builders. This does not apply to DIY. Some councils may advise slightly different hours so check.
Dont some questions just ask for a corny answer no matter what the problem is and i'm surprised no one as yet has picked up on it.
Why was next doors builder knocking down a wall under your bedroom window unless you were sleeping next door. In any case i'm glad you were only woken up and not sent downstairs with a crash
I think most of us recognise that 'underneath' in this case means 'broadly in the vicinity of underneath' and not 'direcly underneath'.
Do you always take things literally?
