We have inherited a large bamboo plant outside our front door. Everytime we try and cut it down more bamboo shoots up, is there a quick and simple method of getting rid of it. It is in a plot about 10ft long and 5ft wide. Thanks if anyone can help.

bamboo is of the grass family. If you stop it seeding it will eventually die out. Meantime do this

Or you could just buy a panda!
Cut it down and as the new shoots grow up spray them with Glyphosate. This is a systemic weedkiller and will translocate into the roots and kill them. If it is well established it may take a number of treatments. Wait until shoots are four to six inches long before spraying.

Glyphosate is available at most garden centres under their generic name - look for Tumbleweed or Roundup if not sure.

It does not have immediate effect - takes 10 days to 3 weeks to show.

Napalm or agent orange.

Like the Americans did during the Vietnam War!

Lol.
Buy a pet panda?
Don't cut it down... dig it up.

great minds think alike. :)
If it is the type known as Japanese Knotweed then I recall it being in a category that needs to be irradicated from this country as it is taking over everywhere. See http://www.jksl.com/what-is-japanese-knotweed. htm for further information with regards getting help/advice etc.

Even if it isn't this type you will be able to see the makeup of the plant and gain knowledge from the growing method it employs.
