Getting my purchased DVD films on to Hard Drive

I've bought DVD films and find I can't copy them to my Hard Drive, is there a way to do this, and how?, would be grateful
for any answers.

Search google for free dvd rippers, not all do all dvds, depends on security, age etc of dvd (older ones are easier to rip)

DVDs (even if "shrunk") can take up a lot of space. Just the main film can start at 700MB for a 90 minute film, more depending on how you rip the film. A "direct" copy can be 3GB upwards. Make sure you have a lot of space on your drive!
