Does anyone have any knowledge about when your a hackney driver & you pay your settle each week, you are paying towards insurance aswell. If your cab gets damaged by some vandals, is it right that you have to pay the repair costs??
Thanx in advance

as its hackney carriage it should be fully comp insurance due to passenger liabilities ect, you would have very good quality insurance which would cover vandal damage, unless the driver signed an agreement with the owner to pay an amount towards damage it should be covered by the insurance. get hold of the insurance documents!!!

Hi Cazzz.
The taxi company owner said he only has third party insurance, which in my opinion is pathetic with being a public service. I said to my hubby did he get any documentation or T's & C's when he started & he said no.
He is now saying it is the excess (wich i thought) but its gone up from last wk from 150 to 250 now. If he had damaged it himself or crashed then fair enuff but not when some vandals jump all over it at 2.30 in morning.
Thanks

It is very iffy, the owner of the taxi firm, loves money & likes to cut corners (thats why he has money). It is 3rd party insurance so he says, there is no way we would get to see the documents. He knows he wont get the money off my hubby & all the other drivers agree that he shouldnt have 2 pay, thats what he pays him for.
