Hi guys.

We were recently hit in the rear of our car by a wonderful speeding drunk driver. The back of our car was smooshed and had to be replaced as well as a few other things.

We've had our car returned to us but now it's guzzling petrol at an incredible rate. We have a nissan micra 1.2 and one of it's features is a display that tells you how many miles worth of petrol you have left.

Now when we drive 10 it says we've used 70! We thought maybe it's something to do with the computer read out but the petrol gauge is reading low too. It's happening a lot. We can't see petrol leaking from underneath and we can't smell it either.

Does any one know what this might be?

I'm taking it to the garage today and they've said it should be safe to drive the 10 miles to them. Is this true?

I'd be so glad of any help you guys can offer.

Sounds like the sender unit is playing up, it sends the info from the tank to the dash....

Why not check how much petrol you are using. Fill the tank to the brim, drive 100 miles or so and then re-fill it.
