I am trying to put some videos in .avi format onto DVD so they can be watched on a normal DVD player. the problem I am having is that although each of the avi files is only about 1GB, when they are converted into DVD format, thy expand to about 10GB, so i can't get them on a standard 4.7gb disc!

is there any software to compress the files to fit? Is any of it available free?
