All I can say is 3 of my friends who smoked gave up as soon as they found out they were pregnant. They all stayed off the cigs (& still do) as they said it was one of the things that replused & made them sick them in the early stages, just like some go off coffee, meat etc. Hopefully you too may feel like they did & won't miss it so much.
Fingers crossed for you & good luck.
Congratulations on all your achievements! I gave up smoking the day I found out I was pregnant and found the first few weeks quite hard. However, I personally found it easier once my bump started growing. The hormone surge at the beginning of a pregnancy is enough to make you go mad without worrying about nicotine cravings as well, but once you've settled into the pregnancy and you start to see your bump expand you've got a constant reminder right in front of you to help you stay off the cigarettes! Unfortunately my will power waned after I'd stopped breastfeeding my son and I started sneaking outside for a crafty puff once he was asleep, but picking him up for a kiss and a cuddle while smelling like an ashtray just made me feel hideously guilty. So, I gave up once again and have been smoke-free ever since. In September I will have been a non-smoker for two years and cannot tell you how good it feels to have finally cracked it! So, keep going - it gets easier over time and you will be so proud that you are doing the right thing for you and your baby. Good luck!
