camcoder to standard video recorder - direct

I have a camcorder using 8mm video cassette. I normally record on it and then bring it home and connect to standard video recorder to also have a permanent copy. If I want to use the camera at home and rather then record it on 8mm, is it possible to connect the camera directly to your video recorder and record it on a standard video cassette. Obviously it will restrict the movements of the camera with all the wires connected but  I can live with that.

Yes, it's entirely possible.  Just connect it to your video as per normal, insert a VHS tape, and press Record on your VCR.

Oh, and obviously you'll need to be seeing the output on your Video Camera.  On most cameras, putting it into record without a tape in it, or pressing the record button  should do it.  And you'll need to turn the sound down on your telly, or you'll hear unpleasant 'howl round'.
