My flowers beds and every available space in the garden is being taken over by clover!have tried hand weeding to remove small "turnip"like roots but am losing the battle any suggestions for getting rid of this wretched weed?thanks in advance
well patience is the answer. Cover is a clever plant that uses those root nodules to fix nitrogen in the soil. Nitrogen is needed for plant growth but clover can't tolerate a lot of it so it grows those nodules. Eventually the clover cannot survive in the nitrogen rich soil that it has created and it dies out...takes two or three years but it will go, in the meantime don't let it set seed.
