Thanks for your messages
Hi Everyone, thanks for all your best wishes regarding the birth of our baby son, who still has no name.
To summarise, the Labour was traumatic, 30 hours and they would only give me Entinox (Gas & Air) as they thought things were progressing, but they weren't, so it was a further 7 hours before I was finally allowed an Epidural, what a relief that was.
Anyway, the Epidural seemed to stop the contractions, so they were going to put me on a drip to intensify them, but wanted to check the rthe baby, so they did these blood samples twice from his scalp. I was still only 7.5cms dialated at this point and after the second sample, they decided baby was in distress, so I was taken down for an emergency Caesarian (not happy about that, felt like a failure)
Baby was born 27/06 at 00.23, weighing 10 pounds 4 ounces (4.7kg). We're home now, he was very quiet in hospital, but we got no sleep last night. I don't think he likes the Moses basket.

You have him - that's all that matters. 30hrs tho' - a bit excessive. Hope your C was a bikini cut? No heavy lifting for at least 6weeks (that'll be hard with your 10pounder)! Must be glorious and fascinating for you at this first experience of motherhood. Enjoy, and share him with us - cheers ;)

upsydaisy, I was trying to make Velvetee feel better!!!
for the record, I'd have loved a CS. I had 2 huge babies (on separate occasions) and had a bit of a nightmare, particularly with the first.
I just meant that Velvetee tried for a natural birth. I hope I've explained myself to your satisfaction.

congratulations again, velvetee - you're a hero having a long labour like that. i thought mine was hard enough, but it was only 4 hours after arriving at the hospital.
reuben was extremely quiet in the hospital too - he didn't even cry when he was born, he just gave a small whimper, which was worrying because he was blue when he came out, too.
he soon found his lungs though...
hope you're enjoying your new baby boy!! x x x

Velvetee I know you don't know me but, i've 2/3 times posted how your pregancy seemed to mirror mine, now your first night home has! I got no sleep, baby would sleep fine in my arms but, the minute i laid her in her moses basket, she squalled! I was in tears the next day when the mid wife came in to visit, and she swaddled the baby laid her down and she slept for 3 hours - I hadn't been swaddeling her tight enough (Felt a failure cause a stranger could get het to sleep and I couldn't!)
Try swaddling him if you haven't already
Contrats again and good luck with the wee man!
