What is Po Po?

Hi, can anyone tell me what "Po Po" means in many r'n'b songs/raps. For example in the song Girlfriend by B2K remix with R Kelly it goes "i got the po po following in the limo" and also in Jin's hip-hop tune in Learn Chinese "And the only po-po we know is the pigs on the hood out in the window". At  a guess it's po-lice.  Living as I do in the 'hood of north cambridgeshire, I can totally relate.     I guess the limo is the police car?  Pigs = cops?  Not, of course, my personal opinion.  The pigs, I mean police around here are utterly marvellous. (bro.)
